Map and Compass

Rogaining is an orienteering sport of cross-country navigation, involving both route planning and navigation between checkpoints. Small teams choose which checkpoints to visit within a course and within a given time limit with the intent to maximize their score. Depending on the difficulty in reaching them, checkpoints are scored differently. Hence each team has to choose a strategy to maximize their score. They travel entirely on foot, navigating by map and compass in terrain that varies from open farmland to hilly forests.
